views? opions on the tourny?
well it's obvious i'm gonna have to learn how to structure a gaming bracket better for tourneys. asside from that i've heard mostly possitive reviews.
thank you guys for coming, next chance i get hopefully there'll be more people and it'll be better organized.
mikey if you would please, start the rose petals and thorns?

Are you talking about me beginning roses and thorns like I did on the Dag forums?? I wasn't there =).
From what I read, some people need to save their lunch money one day to be in the tourney...

i think theres a few things to take into account here:
1. It was very late notice. You posted the tournament Thursday night and had it Friday night.
2. Most people that entered weren't all too familiar with Smash or weren't motivated to even play (we had to force and pay for Stephen to play =(
3. Small room and the tournament organization was being done at the time of the tournament. Everyone was yelling "When do I play? Whats going on? Where are the hot chicks?"
all of those im sure you noticed yourself, im just putting it on paper so to speak.

If it was $2.50..why?
what do you mean why? why was it only $2.50 or why was there even a price for entry?

well its hard to compare a couple dollars difference to a couple hundred dollars difference. i think most people can afford $2.50 (you gotta put something of value on the line) but it was a last-minute sort of thing.
he said so himself, hes trying to find out what a good price range would be for a tournament and if certain games should qualify for tournaments. these are the testing stages, and as with any testing, there are bound to be mistakes and miscalculations.

The first rule in engineering: No first test of an engineering design ever works as expected. There will always be complications, and things will get better with time. Andy, along with everyone else, is knew to the whole idea of running tournaments, other than a couple we've had in the passed, however those were just a couple and not enough to learn much from.

why? O_o you brought up good points, early organization is a MUST. there is no way we can pull this kind of move if we ever plan to take it to the next level.
one of the worst things you can do to your customers is give them false information or change it at the last minute. we have to make sure this doesnt happen.
these are things we needed to discuss and im glad it was brought up.

Dude, there were three tourneys, 2 dollar ones and a 50cent one, so there was no lying on Andy's part. You would have known that if you were there, newb.

hehe guys enough enough. we need to find a way not to flame someone when we think their opinion is wrong. i know you guys are eager to hop on a topic but if someone says something and 4 people respond REGARDLESS of what you say to that one person, it's going to feel like an attack.
again i'm not discouraging responses. just be wary of surrounding conversations.
