On the day of Round 1, complete an official participation form, or if you are a minor (defined as under 19 years of age in Alabama and Nebraska, under 21 in Mississippi and under 18 years of age in all other states and the District of Columbia), a parent or legal guardian will be required to complete and sign the official form. After the form is signed, give the official form to the GameStop tournament representative who will call your name when it is your time to compete in Round 1.
Just wanting to points this out for the minors in the group.

Each Round 1 Contestant will be paired with another Round 1 Contestant in a one (1) minute match until one (1) Contestant is eliminated. The winner of each Round 1 match will then compete against another winner until only one (1) Round 1 Contestant has survived the elimination matches.

i dont even want to be in this tourney if theyre doing a 1 minute match. characters like Meta Knight and Sonic will suck at this tourney.
i will put $10 down and bet that Marth or Ike will be the winner of this store's competition.

yea, i'm debating on playing ike for the tourney.... ness is my home boy, peach is my fine a$$ bit3h and olimar is my captian o' captain. but ike is a giant sword of death brought down onto the homes and villages that we commonly know as "stock"

So what happens if no one dies before 1 minute? The person with the lowest percentage wins? Any one of us could win this thing by dodging and doing just a couple %'s of damage. 0% wins over 3%.

if its a complete tie, even in sudden death, theres a rematch.

Unless I'm not understanding this correctly, I won't let me winning this tourney be decided by me getting one hit in during sudden death during half the matches that come to that.

really, retailers and the companies themselves (Nintendo in this case) never hold well thought-out tournaments.
all the big Melee tourneys were made by third-party groups that solely did tournaments for Smash Bros and other games.
