i dont get excited about final fantasy games like i used to...(besides Tactics)

the repetition of most of that is the FF series in a nutshell. A world on the edge of future and past, which is appealing in my opinion. But they just have stop making decent games. There main characters are getting worse and worse. The story is getting more gay and gay. And the game play which they are trying to continually reinvent fails so hard. Said it once, they just need to stop trying to make a movie and instead make a game.

Squaresoft became Square-Enix. THAT is why the recent FF games have sucked.

i agree, if they put all their efforts into a movie, and with focused on the production of an awesome storyline, they could put out a pretty kickass movie.

i thought FF7 Adevent Children was pretty cool myself. however, it seems Square-Enix is still very capable of making good RPGs, their most recent stand-alone that was a huge hit is Kingdom Hearts I believe. as much as i didnt like the game personally, a lot of other people did and it had a unique battle system.

i think theyre just milking the Final Fantasy name, knowing it will sell regardless.

Milking? Butchering is more appropriate. They're changing Final Fantasy, as we all saw with FFX, which began the process. And now from the short game-play video we saw in what you posted, Tim, I'm seeing an action-based hack and slash?? Correct me if I'm wrong. This is not what Final Fantasy was based off of, and I think we'd all agree if they stuck to their roots. Turn-based battles, epic story, memorable characters. THAT's what FF is, just like Mario is jumping. Mario hasn't been changed so drastically as to completely alter his gameplay style, and it's worked, so why can't FF stick to what made it famous. To hell with Square-Enix, their games aren't the same as their predecessor's.

The point is that each game is its own. The FF series doesn't have room to be altered unless the classic, good games are still produced. Mario drives a Go-kart, yes, but that is a completely different game from the original mario, but only with Mario characters. Games like that are the exact same as making a racing game or sports game with FF characters.
